...between posts. Then again, my life might be considered pretty boring.

So, the rundown in abbreviated form:

1) The book: By now, the book should be in the design phase. That is, the book is laid out, incorporating the text with the artwork. This part has me the most worried. I made my wishes known for the design (full page art only) but whether that happens or not, I don't know. What I do know is that I get a copy of it for review prior to printing. So, we shall see. I need to get things rolling on the second book. While I have a year and a half to do 24-25 aircraft, I'd rather not wait until zero hour and kill myself trying to get it all done.

2) Kamp Dovetail: Once again, my battalion provided security for the summer camp. Overall, perp-wise, it was uneventful. However, the heat that week was killer and our medics had to bolster the camp's medic staff. It wasn't a dull operation for them. 47 heat injuries total, 27 of them on just one day. Usually, it is the counselors who fall out, forgetting to take care of themselves in addition to the camper in their charge. But, we survived the week.

3) Civil Air Patrol: Still in it and enjoying it. :) Been working diligently to finish my GTM3 qualification (done save for two tasks) and get my technician rating in Logistics this year and my technician rating in Emergency Services in 2010. Our squadron was inspected two weeks ago. Not the first time for the squadron (they are done annually) but the first for me. Just my luck I was called on the carpet first for my two departments. Asides from a few hiccups during my portion of the inspection, I think I made it. :D I've also been busy attending the various SAREXs the Wing has been having, all prepping for the USAF evaluation next month.

4) A few nights ago, some asshat thought it would be funny to torch the pile of large items that can't go into the dumpsters. So, up in smoke went tires, beds, couches, even a tree unfortunate enough to be too close to the blaze. The funny thing is, I thought that the sirens outside was a squad visiting the retirement home across the street so I didn't pay it much heed. I went out the next morning and saw the burnt out remains. Joy. Glad my car wasn't near that bonfire.

5) A few months back, I mentioned some nimrod was outside running and gunning, popping off some rounds. Well, last Wednesday, heading to my car, I found a spent .40 or .45 caliber shell in the parking lot. Made by Federal, it had been fired but the caliber was eroded away from being run over and kicked around for awhile. Might have belonged to that twit.

6) A fellow on MySpace sent me a message about a art show in Portland, Oregon. He'd seen my work and said he'd like to see me submit work to the show. So I did. And as luck would have it, two of the five pieces I submitted passed the jury and were accepted. Huzzah! :)

7) Things are on the move for a trip over to NYC for some photo shooting at the close of this month. Should be filled with epic win.

8) Movies: Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen was sweet. Sure, it is getting bashed by the critics...but so what. Far more Transformer action this time and the fights were pretty awesome. If only they could pull off Gundam like this. But, that would mean the Japanese would need to pony up some serious jack to make that happen. The only attempt, the 2000 movie G-Saviour, was alright...but look what could be done now. I also managed to obtain a copy of Warriors of the Wasteland to replace my rather aged VHS copy. A truly horrible Italian Road Warrior knock-off...but so funny.

Sprinkles or no sprinkles? See below!!

Also please excuse extra weird video. I was blindly recording with the digi cam (I usually use Photobooth) so I had no idea if I was actually in the frame or not. Hahah!

Cake Box from Twinkie Chan on Vimeo.

This is a “sketch” I did in photoshop before I started work in order to figure out the colors. As you can see, I initially did put sprinkles on it, but I am sort of leaning toward no sprinkles now…. hmmm!!!

Also here are some doggie vids from yesterday.

Here is Bibi eating her foot and Bunny saying hi with her butt.

Untitled from Twinkie Chan on Vimeo.

And moments after, here is Bibi checking out what’s on TV.

my rt arm is an evil thing possessed by annoying tingly pins, needles & fire. it's making sleep a very uncomfortable & unachievable thing. it's far too late. barnicles!

nothing like a torn rotator cuff to ruin a decent nights sleep for more than one night. I'll be so glad when the damn thing is all fixed up and dandy. hell, at this rate, i may become half cylon in no time flat.

how did i rip said rotator cuff? good question...either yoga, an overstuffed record bag, a year of wieght lifting, seba tossing (jk), coleco carrying.but really i've not the slightest clue. more than likely, it's each of these things. all i know is, i want it to quit all this nonsense. my shoulder that is.

i've got to say i'm lucky considering
1. i have everything i need in life
2. and thank god i am a lefty.
3. doesnt effect my singing voice (even if spinning is tricky)

had an e.m.g. test i had a couple weeks ago (ya know where they stick needles in you and shock you with a current to test your nerves. you don't know? lucky!) it showed that i had major "nerve irritation" and "disturbance of sensation goin on. BUT at least i have no neck nerve issues and none of my nerves are damaged thankfully. doesn't mean i get 2 avoid surgery but at least my neck isnt in the equation. *sigh*

schnart....ok i am going to try this sleep thing *once more* praying in earnest that i dont roll over on it in the middle of the night. or day as the case may be.

I’ve been wanting to do another ice cream scarf for some time (I did one years ago), but just never got around to it. I wanted to refine the cone, and I wanted to make sure that my ice cream scarf didn’t look too much like my cupcake scarf!! Also a little birdie once wrote me a letter covered in cute little sketches of things. One sketch was of soft serve scarf. It looked like vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. I’d been thinking for a while about how to do it, and I finally settled on a plan.

I got a great yarn from ImagiKnit. I believe the brand is Twinkle. It’s super duper chunky, fluffy, soft and luscious. It’s truly delicious! I bought it in chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. This stuff is $20 a hank! I probably won’t keep using this yarn, but it was nice to work with on this initial scarf.

The cone is good ol’ Vanna yarn. I like working with Vanna a lot, and there are a ton of colors (not great pink or yellow, tho!). I ran into the problem of the cone curling a bit. I seem to have this problem when I work in sc. I haven’t discovered or read about any ways of curing the curl, so I think for my next version, I will work in a wool for the cone so I can try to block it and stop the curling.

As you can see, this scarf is HUGE!! It’s too big for my taste. Not only is it big, but it’s also rather dense, eventho the chunky yarn is worked in dc, so it’s super heavy, and when you wrap it around your neck, it feels like a neck brace!!!

So next time: smaller pattern, looser work on the ice cream so it’s not so dense, and wool yarn for cone. I also want to do all vanilla ice cream, with rainbow colored party cones! I like how there is space across the top of the cone to stitch out words if I want, like people’s names!

I really want to make another version right away, but I have other pressing craft-fair projects to complete!!

We have to get nadias blood drawn, and go from there. He said it was not lukemia, and that he didn't think it was lymphoma, but we are testing for it anyways to be safe. I won't know anything else until later this week or next when the blood work comes back! I'll keep you guys updated! ♥ keep praying for us. There is certainly something attacking her. Her eyes are black, and her eczema and mood are awful. I'm so worried!

Thankyou guys for checking in on us! <3

I just finished six sessions of work with Golda and man I have never felt BETTER! In terms of body acceptance stuff I'm pretty "advanced" as she said from hanging out with the Nolose crew, reading Fat!So? and talking on the Gab Cafe and reading Fat Chicks Rule and Fat Girls Guide to Life and numerous zines. I still have days where I think I don't look badass because I'm bombarded with thin= lookin' good but I'm pretty good at turning those thoughts around or just going "Oh Well" and getting on with my life.

When it came to other areas, like holding things in and getting pissed about every little thing and blowing up for no reason, I did need some help to make my life better. I had to change to positive thinking and Golda really showed me the way to make positive thinking work for ME PERSONALLY. It doesn't have to be all fruity two shoes Stuart Smalley style cornball affirmations at all. The key is finding what works for you personally and Golda is excellent about giving you ideas to help you figure out what exactly you want from your life.

I'm enriched in so many ways because of my work with Golda and I am happier and less anxious thanks to her. If you want to start a revolution and stop hating your body or if you've already done that and you're not sure where to go next, Golda can really help you.

I started out the sessions with two goals: improve my cycles (painful periods, anovulatory cycles, etc.) and lower my (admittedly not very high) blood pressure. I achieved so much more than those two things. I learned to take control of my life and not to listlessly let fate land me wherever (although when it does to be okay with it and not get my BVDs in a bunch).

I highly recommend her! Check it out: http://www.bodylovewellness.com/

I went over to my parents’ yesterday to get help from my mom for this crafty project!

Usually I go bug Manda about my sewing needs, but I feel like she has a lot of her own sewing projects on her plate now, so I hit up Mama Chan. She claims to not sew very well, espesh clothing, but she sure whips up a mean couch-cover from her own pattern!

Here’s a peek of what we made. Next time I order my fabric from Spoonflower, I will make the images bigger. We felt that the pillows were a bit on the small side. At least I have my colors locked down now, so I can go crazy with my fabric orders!! Due to certain boo-boos on my part…there won’t be very many pillows at Renegade. There will be 4 kinds: tater tots, pickle jars, ketchup bottles, and hot dog packs. If people seem to like them, I will print out more varieties of foods. If they are a big flop, then I’ll just make a set for myself!!! :P

Hey guys,

I just sent out a mailing list message, but in case you are not on the mailing list, I am going to ask for your help here, too!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to decorate my vintage fridge for the craft fair with magnets and pictures of other people wearing my goodies. I only have a small handful of customer pics, so if you could take a quick snap shot, or if you have some laying around, I would SO appreciate you emailing them to me (twinkiedink at gmail dot com) so your beautiful faces can be at my booth! I plan to print out the pics as little fake polaroids, so if you also want a little message or name or nickname or something written underneath the pic, just include that in your email as well.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I know it can be a big pain in the rear end to take pics and send, so if I happen to receive any new pics in my inbox, I super appreciate it!!!!!

I also never mentioned here in my blog that I will have some marked down prices on the more expensive scarves, so it’s definitely a rare opportunity and you should definitely come and visit! Nothing will be over $100.

Also I’ve been working on some cute new designs, and I will try to preview them here in the blog when I get a chance to take pics and post them!
